DTB is ready for the digital transformation of Proof of Union Status (PoUS)!

Starting in the second half of September 2024, the new PoUS system will replace the traditional T2L/T2LF paper documents with a fully digital process, ensuring that operators can prove the Union status of goods via the EU Customs Trader Portal.

How does the PoUS system work?

The PoUS (Proof of Union Status) system is designed to streamline and digitalize the process of proving the Union status of goods. This means operators no longer need to rely on paper-based T2L and T2LF documents, but instead can handle everything online via the EU Customs Trader Portal. Here’s how it works:

  1. Portal Access: Operators or their customs representatives log into the EU Customs Trader Portal to submit proof of Union status.
  2. Data Submission: They provide necessary information about their goods, such as origin and destination, via the portal.
  3. MRN Assignment: After submitting the data, they receive a Movement Reference Number (MRN), a digital proof used by customs authorities to verify the goods' status.
  4. Customs Control: Customs officials use the MRN to confirm the goods' Union status, ensuring seamless movement across EU borders.
  5. Phased Implementation:
    • Phase 1 (starting September 2024): Replaces paper T2L/T2LF with electronic versions.
    • Phase 2 (by late 2025): Integrates shipping manifests into the PoUS system.
